When you visit the Pinnacles in the Nambung National Park in Western Australia, you can also visit the oldest living creatures on earth. They are close the road to the town Cervantes in the Lake Thetis.
However you need quite some imagination. They are called Stromatolithes and live in Lake Thetis. They are microorganisms which live on limestone in the water. They grow very slowly and are about 1200 years old.
They found 3.5 millions old fossiles of Stromatolithes which makes them the oldest creatures on earth which are still in existence. But as we said, you don’t see actually anything, some stones in the water and there they are supposed to be. Not very exiting.
