Flies are really annoying in Australia. As soon as it gets a bit warmer, they come in millions. And there aim is your mouth, nose and eyes.

The flies probably want some liquid. They are soooo annoying. They sit on your lips and wait until you open your mouth. The average Aussie eats quite a fair share of flies during his lifetime. That’s so gross!

Sometimes you think a friendly Aussie tries to greet you, but he just tries to get rid of the flies :-)

Recently we watched a show on television and during this show the tv presenter ate a fly - you see it’s so normal they don’t cut this out on national television!

  1. You get used to having flies buzzing round your head in Australia, when you see people brushing the flies away it is often called an “Aussie salute”.

If you think the flies are bad, check out the Mosquitoes and the sand flies.
