In Vienna we find fat-reduced products with labels saying “only 1% fat” in the supermarket. In Australia the labels say “98% fat-free”. This is supposed to be more positive and you see immediately how much fat you save.
The Australian population is very sensitized, when it comes to the fat content of food. On television it’s regularly reported that the Australians are too fat. Obviously they share this with the Austrians.
If you are a man in Australia and you have a little too much fat stored around your body center, you are affectionately called Mr. Tubby. As a woman you are called Ms. Frumpy. It’s rather difficult to find a milk product in the supermarket which is not fat-reduced. Yoghurt, milk, cheese and even ham is 98% fat-free. It’s funny even the label on lollies says 98% fat-free, but the don’t tell you how much sugar is in it.
