The good thing is, there is an Ikea in Perth. However… compared to an Austrian Ikea it’s rather sad.

If you think of Ikea in Vienna, you have a huge shopping experience in mind, furniture and accessories on two levels, a good and cheap breakfast with salmon, your Ikea family card which grants you a 5% price reduction on certain goods and Swedish meat balls in this good gravy with cranberries.

Well, the Ikea is small in Perth, only on one level and the range is therefore rather small, too. Many of my appreciated accessories are not available. They don’t have my favorite glasses or coffee cups. My favorite towels are only available in 3 out of 10 colors. There is no breakfast with salmon and no Ikea family card. They have Swedish meat balls, but they taste differently and they are not so good at all.

As you can probably see, I was pretty disappointed of the West Australian Ikea and I got homesick. I know it’s rather silly to get homesick because Ikea is different than at home, but …well.

Mike also didn’t like Ikea particularly. One of his reasons was that he couldn’t relax with a beer at the Ikea restaurant. As we’ve already reported repeatedly, alcohol is of course not permitted while you’re shopping.
